The problem is that you are not giving yourself time to relax or to wind-down. Your adrenaline is pumping at the highest levels, as if you are getting ready for an activity such as a big game, or the first day of hunting. Your adrenaline is at its highest because you are always on the go; you need to find time out of the day to let yourself relax. Not finding time to relax during the day is a cause for developing a sleeping disorder known as insomnia as well.


To improve your sleep try setting a schedule and keep to it within reason. Even by putting the kids to bed at the same time every night and giving yourself more time to relax before you go to sleep can help.

Some helpful hints for a better nights sleep:

  • Do not watch something that would keep your adrenaline high or get you excited about any upcoming events.
  • Try doing things that will exercise or stimulate the brain, such as reading, putting a puzzle together, or working on Sudoku puzzles.
  • A warm bath is another good method for relaxing and helping one to get a better night’s sleep.
  • If you have the ability during the day, try taking a 15 to 30 minute nap, but no longer. Taking a short nap can make a huge difference, but be careful not to nap much longer than 30 minutes, as this can be counter affective for you.

Yes, we are all aware that today’s environment is very fast pace, stressful, and demanding. Many people are even working more, even though they are earning less income. However, most of us are not aware that all this stress and running around are leading factors of not getting a good nights sleep. So if you are pondering at the thought of how can I get sleep, just look closely to one of your regular days. Are really getting the rest you need each day or not? If you are not, you must try to set a minimum of 20 minutes to an hour aside for yourself every night. It is crucial for you to find time to relax in the busy life style we live today.
